HIT or MISS? Did the President fulfil his promise to name Ministers by September? #TheList

President Buhari had earlier made a promise to Nigerians that the Ministerial List (aka Noise Makers List) would be ready by september.

However, the President only got the list to the Senate around 5 pm after the close of Senate proceedings. The nominees were also not released to the public adding unnecessary drama to a simple process.

This means that the nominees will be screened by the Senate in October and only then will the President be able to form his cabinet.

Nigeria misses important UN event because it has no Ministers

READ FULL TEXT OF BUHARI's SPEECH AT THE UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Below is the full text of President Muhammadu Buhari’s address to the United Nations General Assembly on Friday, September 25.
Excellencies,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I welcome you to this important event. Let me express Nigeria’s sincere appreciation to UN-AIDS for the support and collaboration in organizing this event.
We are on the threshold of history as world leaders adopt the successor development agenda to the Millennium Development Goals. For over 30 years, HIV as a public health challenge has been causing havoc and untold hardship in virtually every part of the world. To date, several million children have been orphaned and some communities have been devastated, while economic activities have been disrupted.
Unfortunately, Sub -Saharan Africa bears a disproportionate burden of this epidemic. The good news is that the effort of the global community has resulted in greater control, less spread and better management.

Saraki asks Court of Appeal to shield him from Arrest

Saraki SP
Embattled President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki,  has approached the Court of Appeal to compel the Code of Conduct Tribunal to stay action on an order it made Friday for his arrest.
The Tribunal had on Friday ordered the arrest of Mr. Saraki for failing to appear on Friday as hearing on a 13-count charge of alleged corruption levelled against him commence.
The chairman of the tribunal, Danladi Umar, issued a bench warrant against the Senate President, brushing aside a Federal High Court order seeking to stop Mr. Saraki’s arraignment.
Mr. Saraki had on Thursday obtained a Federal High Court order directing that the case against him to be halted.

The processes were filed Monday morning, according to the senate president’s media adviser, Yusuph Olaniyonu.

I have no hand in Saraki's troubles - Buhari

The Presidency says that attempts to link the ongoing trial of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to the Presidency are unacceptable. Views to the effect that the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB and the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT can only act upon external instigation are equally uninformed.
A statement by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President said that there is no place in law that the Bureau and the tribunal should take instructions from any quarters.
As an independent institution equal to any superior court of record, the tribunal is set up by the constitution to determine the issue of default, false declaration or forgery in assets declaration. This therefore is purely a judicial process and has nothing to do with the presidency.

NANS split over Saraki

Senate president, FRNThe South-West zone of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has distanced itself from the position of its national president on the trial of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Mr. Saraki is being tried at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, for alleged false declaration of asset to the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, and for operating a foreign account when he was Governor of Kwara State between 2003 and 2007.
