EFCC arrests ex-Chief of Air Staff, Adesola Amosu, over N29billion arms deal

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested and detained the immediate past Chief of Air Force, Adesola Amosu.
Mr. Amosu, an air vice marshal, who was retired last year, alongside other military chiefs, is allegedly being detained over allegation of corruption in arms procurement during his tenure.
An official of the EFCC confirmed the development to PREMIUM TIMES Thursday.
The official said Mr. Amosu was arrested on Wednesday.

A witness on Wednesday testified before the Federal High Court in Abuja revealing that the spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, had N400 million paid into his account on November 24, 2014 by the office of a former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is prosecuting Mr. Metuh for allegedly receiving N400 million from Mr. Dasuki.

The Supreme Court judgement which returned Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, as the duly elected governor of the state, came after a legal battle which highlighted several electoral matters.
The ruling resulted from three appeals by Mr. Wike, his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, and the Independent National Electoral Commission.
They all challenged the decision of the Rivers State tribunal to nullify Mr. Wike’s election, and the decision of the Court of Appeal, to uphold the tribunal’s judgement.
Although the seven-member panel of judges said it would give reasons for the ruling on February 12, respective lawyers vigorously laid out their cases.

Area Boys cut off Lagos firefighter’s ear, damage truck

No fewer than five firefighters with the Lagos State Fire Service were injured in the Ajegunle and Surulere areas of Lagos State.
While an unnamed senior official had his ear cut with a broken bottle, another had a bottle smashed on his head, while three others were reportedly manhandled.
A fire truck was said to have also been damaged in the melee.
It was learnt that some hoodlums, who wanted to loot property in some buildings gutted by fire in the areas, resorted to attacking the firefighters to eliminate oppositions on their way.

Undergraduates rape & rob job seeker, take nude photos

The police in Lagos have arrested two undergraduates for allegedly raping a job-seeker, identified only as Nike, and robbing her of valuables in the Igando area of the state.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspects, identified as Valentine and Kusimo, allegedly took turns to rape their victim after luring her into a hotel.
Valentine, an indigene of Imo State, was said to be seeing off the 27-year-old with the hope that she would not raise the alarm when Nike suddenly called for help.

Ajimobi makes a U-turn, allows Ladoja, others’ promotion

The Ibadan Elders Forum on Tuesday mediated in the crisis between the Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Samuel Odulana, over the elevation of Senator Lekan Balogun, a former governor of the state, Rashidi Ladoja, and seven other Ibadan high chiefs.
The IEF held a meeting at the house of its Chairman, Ambassador Olusola Saanu, on Tuesday evening at the end of which the matter was settled.

EFCC detains German businessman over Arms Scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested a German businessman in connection with the ongoing investigation into the $2.1bn arms procured under the Goodluck Jonathan administration and training of security personnel outside the country.
A top operative of the EFCC, who confided in our correspondent on Tuesday, said the German was arrested because investigation linked him to millions of funds meant for security and arms procurement under the immediate-past administration.

Ahead of the Saturday’s supplementary governorship election in Bayelsa State, the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has literally declared war, saying that members of the party were free to unleash their anger on anyone trying to manipulate the election.
It urged its members to use all means necessary in a democracy to resist any move by any one, including the All Progressives Congress, to rig the election.

Mr. Bello appeared alongside his son, Abba Bello, following allegations of money laundering levelled them and their company, BAM projects and Properties Ltd, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

"I will not sack Ondo civil servants despite the economy" - Governor Mimiko

The Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, declared on Tuesday that the state would not fire its workers in spite of the harsh economic situation in the country.
This was contrary to the expectation of the stakeholders in the state who believed that the state would reduce its workforce in 2016 to enable it meet up with the prevailing financial challenges. Mimiko, who addressed the workers at the government secretariat in Akure, the state capital, said the state would find alternative means to boost its revenue instead of reducing the number of workers.
He said “I can assure you that I will not retrench workers in the year 2016 despite the economic meltdown as a result of the fall in the price of crude oil worldwide.”

PDP Spokesman,Olisa Metuh, arrested by EFCC over Arms Fraud [YNaija]

The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Metuh was picked up at his residence located at Drive One, Prince and Princess Estate, in the Games Village area of Abuja on Wednesday morning.
He was taken in for questioning over part of the arms funds that was traced to a firm associated with him.

Well, things really went south at the tenth edition of the Headies.

It started with Reekado Banks winning the Next rated award and Lil Kesh in tears. It was the second time Lil Kesh would lose to Reekado Banks. With Olamide ranting the last time about injustice, something was bound to give, and it did.

When Adekunle Gold won an award for Sade in the ALternative Song category, his joy was short lived as Olamide took the stage and said the award really should have been for Lil Kesh not Adekunle Gold. He then cursed out at the Headies organizers, threw the mic and a cup containing alcohol on the stage.
