170 locked in cage in Enugu over Sanitation Violations [PIC,Video]


The Enugu State Waste Management Authority ESWAMA has changed motor parks and transport operators in the state to carry out routine cleaning exercise in their parks to ensure a safer environment.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, ESWAMA, Mrs Amaka Anajemba gave the charge on Saturday while monitoring the level of compliance during this month environmental sanitation exercise.




Mrs. Anajemba who expressed dissatisfaction with the poor sanitary condition of major parks in the state encouraged residents to support the state government’s commitment towards making Enugu one of the cleanest states in the country.




She said the agency will continue to put measures in place to ensure efficient waste management.

Members of the national youth service corp fully participated in the exercise.

Speaking in an interview, the Assistant Corps Liaison Officer, Enugu South, Sodeeq Abdurasaq called for full participation by enugu residents as part of their civic responsibility and stressed the need for the state waste management agency to provide the necessary equipment for effective waste disposal.
a resident celestine agenyi who participated in the exercise called on others to use the monthly exercise as part of their contribution to the state government effort at creating a safe environment.

Meanwhile, the agency arrested 170 persons who violated the state monthly cleanup exercise while 12 vehicles and 2 trycicles were impounded.

Areas monitored included Okpara Square, Presidential Road, Ogui Road, Ogbete, as well as Agbani Road and New Market.
